What are these conditions?
Shingles
- A painful skin rash caused by the same virus as chickenpox. It can lead to long-lasting nerve pain and other complications—especially in older adults.
Pneumococcal disease
- A bacterial infection that can cause serious illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections—particularly in older adults and those with certain health conditions.

Who is eligible?
You may be eligible for shingles and/or pneumococcal vaccination if you:
- Are aged 65 or over
- Are aged 70–79 and haven’t yet had your shingles vaccine
- Have certain long-term health conditions
